Freeman Windows and Doors

FFreeman Windows and Doors (FWD) is a family owned wholesale outlet servicing the Tri-State area. Products range from economical brands to high end customized windows, skylights, and doors. With over 50 years of industry experience and an honest approach to business, FWD is in a unique position to provide their customers with in depth residential solutions.

A Paper Induced Headache

Part of FWD’s success is due to their ability to provide customers with customized options to fit their unique situations. Unfortunately, FWD had not found a solution to their own dilemma: a time consuming, disorganized paper trail. For years, when an order was placed with FWD, the employees manually inputted critical information by hand on sales forms. In fact, the entire sales cycle was documented on paper, which was time consuming and allowed for user error. Aside from hindered workflow and monetary losses from manual errors, years of using this antiquated system had also caused an overflow of stored paper data. Boxes began to overwhelm the office, and finding past customer files became a headache.

Streamlined Document Management

Patrick O’Dea, president of FWD turned to Imperial Software Systems for a customized solution that would eliminate the burden of paper while also improving business functions. By installing EZ Doc Filer with company specific features, users now had the freedom to automate the workflow process, thus vastly improving customer service and turnaround times. In addition, ISS conducted a detailed needs analysis which resulted in a complete business overhaul. For example, FWD often received hardcopy blueprints, which would be stored in boxes at their headquarters. To minimize possible destruction or loss of these important documents, Imperial Software Systems installed a plotter with scanning capability so that blueprints can be electronically submitted and scanned into their EZ Doc Filer, which housed their sales orders and internal data as well. By taking several different components of the sales process and streamlining them into one integrated system, Imperial Software Systems created a smooth workflow with many happy customers.
